Tigers are largest big cats in the world weighing on average 220-660 pounds and around 4-10 feet in length. They like to hunt deer, boar, and water buffalo and can hunt in water as well as land. They are also mostly nocturnal and are ambush predators. Tigers are usually solitary animals who have been known to live up to 26 years in the wild. Unfortunately there are only 3,890 tigers left in the world and 4 of the 9 tiger species have gone extinct. Poaching for fur and parts and cutting down their habitat has caused a huge decline in their population. Climate change also threatens the remains of their habitat with rising sea levels. However you can help protect tigers by switching to forest friendly projects. You can also donate to organizations like The World Wildlife Fund (majority of info from here) or Defenders of Wildlife who work to save them.
